When and how did you get started in art?
I was infatuated with the cartoon "Speed Racer" when I was young. Every day, after I watched the show, I would try drawing his car, the Mach 5 (Still love that car to this day).
What was your first creation that made you know you had talent?
That's a tough one...I'm not sure that I ever realized it was a talent, until someone else told me it was. I was very young (Maybe 7 years old), when I first heard it called a "talent". I always just viewed it as a passion and a honed skillset (which is always a work in progress).
What artists have inspired you?
The main ones that inspired me to draw comic books were Gil Kane, Neal Adams, Jim Steranko, and John Byrne. As I got older, I was really inspired by Bernie Wrightson and Tim Vigil.
What characters are you planning for the future and type of character are you drawn to?
I have a couple personal projects that I'm working on at the moment (Can't tell anyone yet), but most of what I prefer to draw are the dark and gritty characters.
What are you listening to?
At the moment? The sound of the keyboard I'm typing on.
Favorite Movies?
I don't really have a favorite. I like a lot of them. My favorite genres would be Sci-Fi, action, fantasy, and horror. There are a lot of animated movies I like too. I'm very particular about comedy though. I can watch Abbott & Costello, or Laurel and Hardy all day!
Favorite Animes?
Speed Racer, of course! It's what made me start drawing. I also like Space Battleship Yamato, The Macross Saga, and a few of the other old school Anime. I haven't really had time to invest in the newer ones.
Favorite TV Shows?
I don't really watch much TV. But I have become a fan of the "Lucifer" TV Show.
Is there a scene from a anime, cartoon, movie or tv show that left a big impression on you and what was it?
Hmmm...I'm gonna have to say Captain Kirk from the old Star Trek TV series. He was my inspiration to be a selfless leader if I'm ever in the position.
Books?
History.
Games?
Rarely.
Beverage?
Coffee!!!
Fast Food/ Junk Food of choice?
Pizza!
Candy bar?
Meh.
Favorite Breakfast cereal?
Batman! Damn, I miss the cereal that came out back in 1989 that went along with the movie.
What was your favorite toy growing up?
G.I. Joe. The original one. The old school one. Not the ones the cartoon was based on.
Who is your biggest character crush and why?
Harley Quinn. Cute and crazy just does it for me.
You enter a warehouse. There is little light, but you are able to find your way around. The sound of music draws you to a corner of the warehouse. There are FIVE GHOUL CLOWNS, playing a dancing video game. They have razor sharp teeth and scary weapons. Magic can not affect them; they sense your presence and turn facing you. They run to you to attack. Time to fight! What character would you want to be to defeat them and how would you handle the situation?
The character I would want to be is "Spawn". I would snare them in the chains and cape, and give them the options of repenting or being sent to hell.
If you had to be chained with a character for one year, what would be the character and what would you do?
That's an easy one...Harley Quinn. I would take the character further down the proverbial rabbit hole of her madness. Try to reverse the goofy anti-hero she's been turned into (No offense Jimmy & Amanda)
You can have dinner with your favorite character. And at this dinner you may ask one question. Who would be the character and what would be your one question?
It would be Batman. I would ask why Bruce Wayne has never helped Mr. Freeze, financially and scientifically, to restore his wife.
What's number 1 on your bucket list? (Something you want to do before you leave the planet).
Never really thought about a bucket list.
What advice would you give to people getting started in art?
Decide what you want to do with your art. Do you want to do it as a hobby, passion, or professional career? If it's as a hobby, have a lot of fun with it. If it's for the passion of creating, then pour your soul into it. If it's for a professional career, learn everything about the business that you want to get into with your art. And try to realize that once you become a professional, the hobby part is gone, the passion aspect is a struggle to hold onto, and it will become WORK!
